How much does it cost to build a website in Nigeria? It’s a question that people sometimes ask me. I’ve discussed it for the good of everyone here.
But honestly it defends
It’s like building a house to build a website. The type of construction you model depends on a number of factors, such as your budget, taste, the quality of your building materials.
It also depends on the location of your house, your architect and contractor, and so on.
You can approach this project in two ways when you decide to build a website for your business. You can choose the DIY path, or you can employ a specialist.
It will cost you a lot more to hire a professional to create your website than to do it yourself. But, as the saying goes, if you think it’s expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur. You’ll then know the difference.
You need to weigh multiple factors when you create your website. Let’s look at the cost of building Nigeria’s website.
How much does it cost you to create a standard website?
I’m going to do my best not to jargon confuse you. I’m going to try to explain as much as possible the following terms. The list is not in any specific order.
- Domain Name
- Type of Web Hosting
- Web Designer
- Type of Website
- Payment Gateway
- Website Builder
- Web Developer
- Fixed Price
- Content Management System
- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- Website Speed
You will register on the Web a name for your website, i.e. www.example.com (or.net,.org, etc.).
Your domain name will sometimes come bundled with your web hosting. But you can choose to separately sign your domain name.
It’s your decision. There are no rules that are hard and fast. But it is safer to register your domain name from your web hosting company with a different provider.
So you can switch your domain name to another provider if you have any issues with your web host (God forbid).
The domain name’s value also varies from seller to seller. It also depends on things like the availability and the extension of your domain name, i.e..com.net.org, etc.
Your domain name’s cost is a recurring expense. You need to update your domain name on an annual basis. If they can afford it, registering your domain name in advance is best for several years.
Type of Web Hosting
Numerous hosting solutions are available, such as shared hosting, private virtual servers, cloud hosting, and dedicated. Such prices vary from vendor to vendor. Do your research and make your decision based on your needs, not just price.
Don’t be drawn into the cheapest. Read my Hosting Solution Guide for more details
Let’s get straight to one thing. A web designer is not the same as a web developer, but the two are often mixed together.
So what’s the difference? In short, the front-end of your website is worked on by a web designer. A web developer is based on coding back-end and other techie material.
But a web designer can also be familiar with the creation of the internet and vice versa. A web designer’s cost depends on his years of experience.
My recommendation is to see applications for referrals and see their work samples. There, too, it’s smart to go for the best you can afford, not the cheapest.
Type of Website
Not all websites are the same. Websites that contain important business information are basic, static brochure style.
Then there are the interactive websites that are preferred by established companies. These are more complex, with more whistles and bells.
Then there are websites of the sort of e-commerce. We have a shopping cart and so on to allow quick online transactions that are secure and smooth. The price will typically be calculated by the website you select.
If you want your company to be taken seriously by consumers, stay away from brochure pages. Often, do not base the price of your option. Reflect instead on your needs and the value of the page you want.
Would you like to buy your product or software from a business with an online shop for customers? Then you need a portal for payment.
It’s a service provider for e-commerce applications. We accept online or through your website credit or debit card payments.
This is a software application that allows you to construct a site in minutes. With no technical knowledge, but with certain limitations.
There are various website constructors. Some are free, while others are charged. They all come with different whistles and bells.
But these website builders come with some limitations, as described above. Maybe they’re not appropriate for everyone.
As stated above, the back-end programming of your site is handled by a web developer. She’s different from a designer for the web.
But at the front-end (web design) and back-end (web development) some people are good.
As you may notice, in this article I do not mention any prices. It’s because they vary from vendor to vendor.
So, to find the right service provider, you need to perform your analysis. If you need assistance, make an appointment with me. I’m happy to help you
Content Management System
Examples of digital content are web pages, blogs, infographics, videos, podcasts. You create a lot of content over time.
Then you need an efficient and organized way to manage your content. Content Management System (CMS) is a software application or a series of related programs that are used for digital content creation and management.
There are some common CMS available today for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, Squarespace, Wix and TYPO3
You need to build and upload a static HTML file to a database without a CMS. And it will be hard to maintain if your website has several thousand static HTML files.
Using CMS does away with tension. Nevertheless, there are drawbacks to each CMS. To determine the right CMS for you, you need to study.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
You remember, if you read this blog regularly, the boss wrote a lot about SEO. And here I’m not going to dwell too much on it.
But make sure your website is optimized right from the start for search engines. That gives you an advantage over your rivals in the digital world is a well-optimized platform.
While SEO is not a science of rockets, mastering takes a long time. Google is upgrading the algorithm in about 200 in a year. To optimize your website, you’ll need a SEO expert.
Again, there are lots of business owners who make mistakes on the DIY route. They add content to their website without worrying about how it affects their website’s pace.
Their site is slowing down over time to a grinding halt. And Google has already made it clear that slow websites are being penalized.
So it’s your fault if your DIY page doesn’t yield any ROI. See why I recommend a professional to use.
These are some things that you need to take into account when you build your website.
If you hire a professional, talk to her about all of these. Everyone has to be on the same page, and the surprises are not unpleasant.
As always, get in touch if you need help. I’m happy to help
